1. India has climbed 16 places to the 39th rank on the Global Competitiveness Index prepared by the World Economic Forum (WEF). For the eighth straight time, the list is topped by Switzerland as the most competitive economy. Singapore and the US are at the second and third positions, respectively. This year, 138 economies have been assessed for their competitiveness.
भारत विश्व आर्थिक मंच (डब्ल्यूईएफ) के वैश्विक प्रतिस्पर्धा सूचकांक में 16 अंक की छलांग लगाकर 39वें स्थान पर पहुंच गया है। लगातार आठवीं बार स्विट्जरलैंड सबसे अधिक प्रतिस्पर्धी अर्थव्यवस्था बना है। इस सूची में सिंगापुर दूसरे तथा अमेरिका तीसरे स्थान पर रहा है। इस साल सूची में 138 अर्थव्यवस्थाओं की प्रतिस्पर्धा को परखा गया है।

2. Senior IFS officer Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha was appointed as India’s High Commissioner to the UK. He will succeed Navtej Sarna.
वरिष्ठ आईएफएस अधिकारी यशवर्धन कुमार सिन्हा को ब्रिटेन में भारत का उच्चायुक्त नियुक्त किया गया। वह नवतेज सरना का स्थान लेंगे।

3. The United States has appointed Jeffrey DeLaurentis as its ambassador to Cuba. This appointment of a US ambassador in Cuba took place after a gap of five decades.
अमेरिका ने राजनयिक जेफ्री डेलॉरेन्टिस को क्यूबा का राजदूत नियुक्त किया है। क्यूबा में किसी अमेरिकी राजदूत की यह नियुक्ति पांच दशक के अंतराल के बाद हुई है।

4. The 12th edition of the ‘Yudh Abhyas’ was concluded at the Chaubattia Military Station in Uttrakhand.
भारत और अमेरिकी सेना के बीच उत्तराखंड के चौबत्तिया सैन्य अड्डे में 12वां सैन्य ‘युध अभ्यास’ संपन्न हुआ।

5. Jim Yong Kim has been elected as the president of World Bank for his second term. His tenure will be of five years.
जिम यांग किम को विश्व बैंक के अध्यक्ष पद पर दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए चुना गया है। उनका कार्यकाल पांच साल का होगा।

 

6. Nobel Prize winner and former Israeli president and Prime Minister, Shimon Peres, died. He was 93.
नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता इस्राइल के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति एवं प्रधानमंत्री शिमोन पेरेज का निधन हो गया है। वह 93 वर्ष के थे।

7. Suriya Loganathan of Railways and G Lakshmanan from Services won gold medals in their respective divisions over 5000m on the opening day of 56th Open National Athletics championship.
रेलवे की सूरिया लोगनाथन और सेना के जी लक्ष्मणन ने 56वीं ओपन राष्ट्रीय एथलेटिक्स चैम्पियनशिप के पहले दिन 5000 मीटर दौड़ में अपनी अपनी स्पर्धा में स्वर्ण पदक जीते।

8. India Tourism Development Corporation, a PSU under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, on completion of its 50 Year of inception on 1st October 2016 launched a Logo marking the Golden Jubilee of ITDC. The Logo was unveiled by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism and Culture.
पर्यटन मंत्रालय के अधीन सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र उपक्रम भारत पर्यटन विकास निगम (आईटीडीसी) 1 अक्‍टूबर, 2016 को अपनी स्‍थापना के 50 वर्ष पूरे करने के उपलक्ष्‍य में निगम की स्‍वर्ण जयंती को रोखांकित करने वाला एक लोगो लांच किया। यह लोगो पर्यटन एवं संस्‍कृति राज्‍य मंत्री (स्‍वतंत्र प्रभार) डॉ. महेश शर्मा द्वारा जारी किया गया।

9. Former Australia medium-pace bowler and television commentator Max Walker died. He was 68.
आस्ट्रेलिया के पूर्व मध्यम गति के गेंदबाज और टीवी कमेंटेटर मैक्स वॉकर का निधन हो गया। वह 68 वर्ष के थे।

10. Famous composer and violinist Uttam Singh has been named for this year’s ‘Lata Mangeshkar lifetime achievement award’ by the Maharashtra Government.
मशहूर संगीतकार और वायलिन वादक उत्तम सिंह को इस साल महाराष्ट्र सरकार की ओर से ‘लता मंगेशकर लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट पुरस्कार’ के लिए नामित किया गया है।
