TOEFL iBT is a widely accepted test for proving your English language skills. It has a worldwide acceptability but it is mostly taken while applying for universities in the United States. TOEFL is taken via the internet and the test aims to measure your ability to use and understand English at the university level. The benefit of TOEFL is that it has many test centers and more than 50 test dates in a year which is more than any other tests. You have the option to retake this test as many times as you want in a year but you cannot take it for 12-days after your test date. The cost to register for a TOEFL iBT is $170.
GRE General Test :
If you are planning to go to a graduate school or a business school, taking GRE general test could be your top priority because this test is considered as important eligibility criteria for thousands of graduate and business schools around the world. The test aims to examine you on skills that are required in the graduate school. It has a section on Analytical Writing which aims to measure your analytical writing skills and critical thinking. There are two verbal sections that aim to measure your ability to understand and synthesize information from complex texts, ability to recognize the relationship between words and contexts as well as ability to understand the relationship between component parts of a sentence. There are two quantitative sections as well which tests your problem-solving ability using basic high school mathematics. Total examination time is 3 hours and 45 minutes. The GMAT exam is trusted by more than 2000 business schools around the world which primarily tests the readiness of prospective students towards the challenges in business schools. The test comprises of an analytical writing assessment which comprises of one topic. This is followed by integrated reasoning which has 12 questions and uses multi-source reasoning, graphics interpretation, two-part analysis and table analysis. Furthermore, there is a quantitative section and a verbal section with 37 questions on data sufficiency and problem solving & 41 questions on reading comprehension, critical reasoning and sentence correction. Total exam time is 3 hours and 30 minutes. You can register for the GMAT exam online by choosing your preferred date and nearest test center. The registration fee is $250.
SAT is a verbal and quantitative reasoning test which is required to get admission in an undergraduate program in the universities in the United States. There are three key sections in the examination, namely, reading content alignment, writing and language content alignment and Math content alignment. Taking SAT exam is a good preparation for students who want to get scholarships and study in undergraduate courses in the United States. You can also choose a test fee waiver in your SAT which enables you to apply for free to four colleges of your choice from over 2000 participating institutions. The registration fee for SAT, when registered online, is $43 and with an essay, it is $54.50. If you register via phone, you need to pay an additional $15.
